HWLJ 26th Annual Symposium: Bringing To Light Invisible Abuses Against Women and LGBT People in Prison

In our 26th annual symposium, Hastings Women's Law Journal will join recent conversations that seek to bring to light invisible abuses against women and LGBT people in the U.S. prison system.  Whether one sees incarceration as necessary punishment, rehabilitation, or an archaic system to be abolished, there is no justification for the widespread abuses of the prison industry.  One very visible abuse in California has been the recent use of compulsory sterilization operations, however many other abuses occur on a frequent basis.  HWLJ's Spring 2015 symposium will address whether prisons provide adequate healthcare, safe incarceration, and resources to maintain the family unit.

Please see our 2015 Symposium page for details.  The event is free, but advance registration is requested, available here.
